UPDATE – Great news, all video content has been restored.
That was a hell of a stressful day for us as we prepared to switch video hosts with zero notice. It could have taken us weeks to get back to where we were, so we’re grateful to be back after just one day.
SO WHAT HAPPENED?
Well, to put it plainly, Vimeo terminated our professional account with zero notice, instantly killing all of our videos on our Patreon and our website. Full member videos & free previews, poof, gone!
The reason given was that we allegedly violated Vimeo’s Acceptable Use Policy. No further explanation was provided.
Of course, we immediately appealed, which was quickly rejected. We did this twice before demanding our case be escalated.
Thankfully, someone at Vimeo looked into our case further and realized they made a mistake. An apology was issued, and our account was immediately restored.
This is the sort of thing we have to deal with from time to time as naturist content creators. We can find ourselves at the whim or mercy of a single reviewer who may be having a bad day, or may be uncomfortable with nudity, even when presented in a non-sexual context, or they may have a bias against gay people, or for any number of reasons. We often never know the reason and are left guessing…
As this was not the first time this sort of thing has happened to us, we’re taking steps to be better prepared should it happen again. We’re securing a secondary provider, so most of our content is live and ready to go from another location.
Setting up a secondary provider, of course, creates several extra steps in our workflow and increases our expenses. However, we’ll be in a much better position should this happen again. It’s a slow process because we’re dealing with a lot of massive 4K video files…
We’re grateful for your continued support, which allows us to produce new content and spread the joy of naturism. A big part of that support helps us keep the content online and available. Sometimes this proves to be a real challenge, but we love what we do and love creating content, so we proceed 😆
Now, back to the mission at hand, getting a new video up from our first week back in Bangkok… Look for that this weekend…
